The Deus Swank Rally is a unique event, combining vintage motorcycles, fancy dress and a can-do attitude in the ultimate race against the clock. So, when Yamaha set Jeremy Tagand the task to build a bike that was unequivocally "Swank", the bullet proof and often underrated XT250 would prove to be the prevailing donor. The first step was to tear down the lightweight, air cooled machine to see exactly what the little brute had to give, then a custom stainless steel down swept pipe married to an SC Project can was bolted on thanks to SC project and Hi-Tec mufflers. The front 21" wheel was replaced with a 19" unit to run a more conventional flat track 19/18 set up and then wrapped in Dunlop K180 Tyres. The standard top clamp was ditched for a custom CNC billet piece from Ricci Engineering to accommodate the beefier Renthal Fat Bar. Body styling comes by the way of a Deus fiberglass tracker tail section bolted to the rear, and with a little of modification of the side covers fits like a glove. Fresh plastic from Acerbis in the way of a supermoto front fender and Elba headlight dressed up the front nicely. For all the lighting- a super tidy Kellermann set-up using Atto tail light/ indicators in the rear and BL bar-end indicators up front were the only logical choice for this application. The wheel sets, swing-arm, lower forks, triple clamps and the fiddly bits were sent off to powder coat to protect them from the elements, while the custom paint came from Marc Houssenloge over at Sydney Custom Spray Painting, Mimicking the stock colours of the XT while still giving us a little swanky Deus vibe and 2 different finishes. Build by Jeremy Tagand at the Deus House of Simple Pleasures, Camperdown AUSTRALIA. Special thanks: Yamaha Australia
