Deus Vintage Ride
Highway is the boring line between Milano and the sea. Starting from this statement and considering how many people use scramblers on the tarmac, we organized the first Deus Vintage Ride. The recipe is simple and funny: move from Milano to Sanremo avoiding the highways and alternating normal roads to beautiful dirty tracks suitable for (almost) every bike.
The meeting took place Saturday morning at Castelletto di Branduzzo’s speedway for a breefing and an inaugural round of the track. Then GO! To the outstanding mountains between Lombardia and the sea, crossing the Turchino Pass and enjoing the sea views from the Faiallo Pass.
After lunch we face off the offroad trails: gravel, mud, rocks and a couple of amusing fords. The rare Yamaha TT600R 2WD were the queen among all bikes. This bike, kindly borrowed from Yamaha Italia to Deus, is one of the two only one-off 2WD bikes ever built and has been the winner of the Rally di Sardegna.
Besides we have seen a gorgeous 1971 Ducati Scrambler, a couple of Deus 400 - easy and perfect for this type of route - two beautiful Yamaha XT500. A lot of vintage BMWs, from the oldest and awarded R100/7 to the iconic R 80 GS Paris Dakar, passing from Honda Africa Twin, XL, Suzuki DR Big. Farther the specials from the friends of Anvil Motociclette and OMT Garage. Even a Vespa 300 with tread tyres that was celebrate its seventy glorious years of history. Last but not least a small and sprightly two-strokes Cagiva SX 250. All bikes succeded on the dirt giving big smiles to all the bikers.
After the night spent in Finale Ligure, Sunday morning we moved west, aiming Sanremo and facing again beautiful landscapes like the Passo Altare and the dirt.
Grand final in Bussana Vecchia with lunch and awards: for whom came from far away, to the couples who took the dirt togheter, to the most in theme, to the oldest bike, to the little bike. And finally to the “new” couple born from this trip…
It has been a big weekend of fun and party, without competitive spirit but always full gas, sharing the beauty of nature, test ourselves with our bikes. In short words: the willing of travel.

L’autostrada è la linea più noiosa tra Milano ed il mare. Partendo da questo assunto, e considerando quanta gente utilizzi le proprie moto scrambler esclusivamente su asfalto, abbiamo dato vita alla prima edizione della Deus Vintage Ride. La formula è tanto semplice quanto divertente: partire da Milano con destinazione San Remo, evitando l’autostrada e alternando bellissime strade asfaltate a tratti fuoristrada alla portata di (quasi) tutte le moto.
Sabato mattina ci siamo quindi trovati a circuito di Castelletto di Branduzzo, per le operazioni preliminari ed una prima sfilata in gruppo lungo la pista. Poi via, verso le incantevoli montagne che dividono la Lombardia dal mare, vivendoci lo splendore del Passo del Turchino prima, e gli epici scorci sul mare del Passo del Faiallo poi.
Dopo pranzo è stata la volta dei tratti offroad: sterrati, fango, piste su roccia, e anche un paio di divertentissimi guadi. Reginetta tra le moto la più unica che rara Yamaha TT600R 2WD , una delle due moto realizzate a trazione integrale vincitrice ai suoi tempi del Rally di Sardegna e gentilmente prestata da Yamaha Italia a Deus per l’evento, si sono viste in azione poi una bellissima Ducati Scrambler del 1971, le Deus 400 (ideali e facili per questo percorso misto), Deus 600, 2 bellissime Yamaha XT 500, numerose BMW vintage dalla più anziana e premiata R100/7 alle iconiche R 80 GS Paris Dakar, passando per le Honda Africa Twin, XL, Suzuki DR Big, oltre alle special degli amici Anvil Motociclette e OMT Garage, e addirittura una Vespa 300 con tanto di tasselli che celebrava i suoi gloriosi 70 anni di storia, fino alla più piccola e arzilla Cagiva SX 250 2 tempi del 1986; le moto hanno agevolmente affrontato i tratti non asfaltati, regalando grandissimi sorrisi a tutti.
Dopo la sosta a Finale Ligure, la domenica si riparte verso ovest, puntando su Sanremo e affrontando nuovamente tratti asfaltati come il fantastico passo Altare e tratti offroad, ormai con grande disinvoltura.
Gran finale a pranzo con vista mare a Bussana Vecchia sopra Sanremo con le premiazioni dei partecipanti: da chi arrivava da più lontano (Roma), alle coppie che hanno affrontato in due anche i tratti fuoristrada, al più a tema Vintage Ride, a chi ha affrontato il viaggio con la moto più anziana, e alla moto più piccola di cilindrata. Infine anche alla “nuova” coppia che si è formata durante il viaggio..
E’ stato un weekend di grande divertimento e festa, senza agonismo ma comunque con la voglia di dare gas, condividere la bellezza degli scenari naturali, mettersi alla prova con la propria moto; in estrema sintesi, la voglia di viaggiare.
