Riding the Mountain with the Bicycle Boys

There is really no rest for the wicked! Arriving late last night after the longest motorcycle ride of our lives, we received a call in the early hours of the morning…telling us of plans for a bicycle ride through the mountains of Ubud with the boys. The waves were were shit once again so we thought it would be fun to take the bicycles out for a blast.
(more after the jump)
The day started off in Renon for the weekly bike ride, twas humid and rained, but that didn't dampen anyone's spirits. The trucks were packed and the journey up the mountain to Ubud was made.
It was a day of hills, thrills and minor spills…with the gradient of the initial climb pushing everyone to their limits…with the reward of lunch at the summit. After a chow down on some Nasi Ayam (rice & chicken) it was all down hill fun back to the trucks. An empty volleyball court provided a perfect riding break in the form of a mass sumo match. The final path home lead through the monkey forest, where the presence of brightly colored bicycles perked the attention of the inquisitive primates. All in all it was great to get out with the boys after our absence. Our stories of the velodrome have planted the seeds of a bicycle adventure journey to Java, we'll see what happens!
